New Installation in Greenburgh, NY
So I am one of the lucky ones, in that my town Greenburgh NY is almost already ready for Gigabit. Optimum vans have been everywhere. Per a local newsletter the fiber should light up later this year or early 2018.
I just switched from Fios to Optimum after just under 2 years due to their triple play deal. I was paying over $250 to Verizon for Preferred TV/ 100 MBPS up & down, and home phone. I jumped on the Triple Play for Optimum Premiere TV/ 300 MBPS/ Home phone for just under $150 with taxes. Plus Showtime and Netflix free for a year, Multi Room DVR free for 3 years and a 10"/16 GB android noname tablet after 3 months of payments.
Originally I was tempted to go ahead and buy a SURFboard 6183, but between the rumors of a new all in one with the HDD DVR/New Guide (hopefully) and/or also the possibility of getting Gigabit, I figured I'll just pay the router fee for now and see how things work out. Due to the way the old setup was, it was easier for the technician to give me the Arris TM1602A for Optimum Voice, then gave me a Sagemcom F@st 3965CV Router (CPU: Ikanos IKF7185@ 500 Mhz).
I have to say the Sagemcom router really sucks range-wise. I bought the G1100 (Quantum) router from Verizon when I first signed up because they had a deal for $150, so that was paid off in the Verizon contract. And I tried it with Optimum, and it pretty much worked plug and play. I'm getting 308 MBPS down and 26 up on a wired connection. Wireless not quite as good but not bad either. But the range is back to being excellent again. You might have to factory reset the G1100 just to get it to work though.
Compared to Fios, my only real gripe is the crappy, cluttered Guide and the clunky DVR. But it isn't worth $100/month a to me to have kept Fios.I don't do much uploading so the speed difference there doesn't mean much to me. But triple download speed is great. I don't love the TM1602A working as an Optimum hotspot, but I'm deep enough into a suburban neighborhood that I don't think it will be used much anyway. I got a Samsung SMT-C5320 set top boxes for both TVs, but I'm not thrilled with the remotes, I guess as with any new services you just have to get used to them.
This outdated iO menu really needs to go though, it lacks the amount of customization that Fios had, but for now it is manageable. The crispness of the Fios HD is also apparent compared to Optimum's lower quality HD, but again not enough for me to care.
In the meantime I'm satisfied with the price, expected Gigabit possibility (although I don't really have a need for that much speed right now) and hopefully better all-in-one with a more Fios-like guide and HD based DVR. Worth the switch IMO.
Anybody heard anything new on the all-in-one set tops? I'm curious time-wise what it looks like to get the upgrade.

[OOL] Possible DISABLE SIP ALG on Optimum router auto-config?
Hi, these past few days i've been experienced dropped incoming calls (using Magic Jack, and Optimum's router).
I noted that on the Linksys community forums (years ago) people with dropped calls had luck thru disabling SIP ALG.
https://community.linksys.com/t5/VoIP-Routers/MagicJack-SIP-VOIP-Device-drops-incoming-calls-behind-WRT610N/td-p/238310/page/3
The thing is, when I was on the phone with Level Two MaJack support, she mentioned to me something about tweaking SIP, which I assume to mean she tried disabling it at their end.
But it failed to resolve my dropped calls (she made test calls to me).
She then told me that either a firmware-update might help, or else, it's a matter of requiring a new GO device, which is a major pain.
So, this may be a dumb question, but I'm wondering if there's a way to resolve it via the settings on my Optimum router (which is auto-configured), just like those guys resolved it via their Linksys Admin.settings? Thanks.

[OOL] Fiber Rollout
This morning in Babylon Village they are rolling out fiber for the Altice fiber build (I chatted with one of the workers on the project). There are two huge spools of fiber, one of which appears in the picture. The other spool is hidden behind the building on the left as it is currently being deployed down West Main Street. I am curious if they will be lighting it up when installation here is complete or wait until it is built out everywhere and then switch over.
The current coax installation ends just to the right of the utility pole on the right where you can see the edge of a WiFi hotspot.

[OOL] Picture of Arris T822G battery.
Can anyone post a pic of the battery inside their TM822G modem? I'm getting Optimum Voice added and e bay and amazon sellers are posting confusing or misleading pictures of the battery needed. Thanks
By the way my modem says TM822 on the front, TM822G on the back and bottom on stickers. But when I open the battery door TM722GH is imprinted on the plastic!

Router issues
I have OOL. For the most part things are OK except I’ve been having some issues with my router dropping out where I’ll either have to connect and reconnect or power cycle the modem. It’s definitely the router and not the modem.
1. If I call support will they send a new router or is the router a “one time” freebie and then you’re on own your own?
2. Can you use your own router or do you have to use theirs so they can broadcast the optimumwifi?

[iO] New Boxes
According to an employee in the Fairlawn optimum store Altice plans to open a pop-up store in the Garden State Plaza around Thanksgiving to show off the new technology they have promised before the end of the year.
Truth or not? Who knows. But he was telling people about it as if it was fact. If true it will be nice to see this vaporware in action.

Altice offering Netflix Free to Triple Play Customers
Altice USA has started offering new triple-play customers in its Optimum footprint free Netflix for one year.
An Altice rep confirmed that the promotion started in September. A commercial for the promotion can be found here. The cable operator said the promotion is a “$120” value, so it's ostensibly paying for the SVOD operator's $9.99 base streaming service.
The erstwhile Cablevision, which was purchased by Altice last year and rebranded as Optimum, was one of the first cable operators to embrace SVOD services, integrating Netflix and Hulu into its user interface several years ago.
For $69.99 a month for one year, Altice is now offering 100 Mbps internet service, a pay-TV package of more than 260 channels and a multi-room DVR, a landline, as well as free Netflix and Showtime. The deal doesn’t include a binding contract, but customers must maintain triple-play status for the full 12 months to keep the price point.
Altice USA lost 37,000 pay-TV customers in the second quarter, but only 12,000 of those losses came in its bigger Optimum system (the other 25,000 came from Suddenlink).
Altice has big advanced advertising plans for the 4.6 million video customers it still has in the Optimum system and is aggressively battling the corrosive forces of over-the-top distribution.
For its part, T-Mobile recently deployed a similar Netflix promotion, offering a free year of the SVOD service to those who signed up for family wireless plans.

Apparently it is only for the new customers according to the story. Not sure if this will stem the tide of cord cutting- or just encourage it more.

[OOL] Optimum 20
Have any existing OOL customers been able to get Optimum 20 at 29.99/mo full price or 24.95/mo promo price?
Several months ago after the modem fee kicked in, I finally cut the cord entirely and also downgraded to Optimum 10 internet at 24.95/mo. At the time, they refused to give me Optimum 20. So, I thought i'd downgrade, give it a few months and then ask to 'upgrade', but still a no go, claiming that it's only for new subscribers, same as before.
My thought now is to signup for the Optimum 20 promo under my wifes name, then cancel my optimum 10? Would that work?
10 mbps down has been fine for me for streaming netflix. The 1 mbps upload is a bit slow though. I read a previous post which said Optimum 20 is actually provisioned as the old standard optimum online speed of 25/5 which would be great! I dont need much more speed than that.

About 1AM last night my connection went down for an hour. When I checked the modem in the morning, the connection went from 12x4 to 24x4. So far, 300mbps is holding better than it did before. (where actually getting 300mbps was rare before)

Where's my 200mb?
So when I signed up for triple play the rep told me I'd was upgraded to 200. I've only gotten 117 tops. Should they give me something else beside the TM822, cause that modem can't handle those speeds. I guess the rep didn't know that. :(

BYO Compatible modems for Optimum Internet
Hi, I'm signing up with Optimum Internet service in the Brooklyn area and would like to provide my own modem. I"m curious whether there is a full list of compatible modems as of mid 2017 (i.e. now-ish).
The sign-up page on Optimum's site lists the following models:
* Arris TM822-2 port 3.0
* TM804-4 port 3.0
* TM1602-2 port 3.0
* Motorola SBV6220 3.0
Are these the *only* modems that will work with Optimum? If so, which of them is the best? If not, what others might work?
I've found the following modems recommended elsewhere:
* ARRIS SB6141
* ZOOM 5345
* ARRIS Surfboard 6183
Are any of them compatible?
Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.

Hosting with consumer internet service?
Hi guys, I already know someone from Optimum is gonna say "YOU MUST GET BUSINESS ACCOUNT!" But the thing is its almost twice expensive.
I have an ethereum mining machine at home that is doubling as a server for other stuff. Running windows 10, I installed docker and want to host stuff from my house. Nothing major, just some basic community websites and voip servers for maybe teamspeak. Will Optimum be okay with this, will they throttle me, or threaten to disconnect me? I was gonna use cloudflare for dynamic IP addressing but like idk, anyone else think I should invest in the more expensive business account?
I also have a ubiquiti edgeos lite router with 2 subnets for 2 specific networks. The second network that the server is on cannot communicate directly with my home network. and my home network can only initiate connections for certain things like remote desktop and ssh. Any other concerns I should worry about?
The reason for this, ethereum mining barely uses any CPU or memory. Its perfect to double up as a server and generate more income. This also can cut costs on using web hosting services which I realize everyone says to get.
