[iO] WGN America and POP coming soon
Just checked the imdb.com listings and it looks like WGN America and POP are coming. Rule of thumb: whenever imdb adds a channel to the listings it usually means it will come within 30 days or so.
WGN America is listed on channel 82
POP is listed on channel 154.

[iO] MRDVR fast forward
So, my Tivo HD which I've had for about 7 years finally died on me. I decided to try the MR-DVR. I think it works well, with the exception of the frustration of fast forwarding through commercials on recordings. The delay is unbelievably annoying, and I spent so much time trying to resume at the right point. Is there any news on a fix for this, or is there some trick I can use to make this more tolerable? I am seriously just thinking about getting a new tivo at this point...

On the OOL 25/5 plan, and speeds were ok this AM. Network congestion started about 3 pm today.

Showtime problem
Has anyone noticed that when watching a recorded Showtime program using the Multiroom DVR, there is this odd millisecond stutter every so often. It's not a pixel break up but like a hesitation in the picture. A frame advance if you will.
This ONLY happens with Showtime, no other channel. I record tons of things on various regular and premium channels and it only happens with SHO. So I can assume it's SHO or Cabelvision's servers because I'm using Multiroom to do the recording. Zero stutter or any pixelation for that matter on any channel in the entire line up at my house. Actually when watching SHO live I haven't seen this "stutter", only when it gets recorded.

Impressive
So.... My modem went out a little while ago.
I don't normally think much of it. The last few times it's happened it came right back up.
This time I get a call and an email from Optimum reporting and acknowledging the outage, though both came after the modem went online again.
Things are shaking up a bit it seems. I'm not used to that :D
That is all. Carry on

[OOL] Purchasing own router/modem?
Hi,
I'm a relatively technical business-class user. Optimum has just told me they're going to increase our business rate to $135/mo plus tax for 5 IPs, the modem, Boost, and the actual data. First, is this a good price?
Where can I purchase a modem of my own so I don't have to pay the $10/mo charge to CV? Which model is best?
↧
Is OOL the best?
I will likely be moving to the NYC area very soon. While I'm not going to pick a place to live based solely on internet, I wanted to know if OOL is the best out of FiOS, RCN, or Time Warner? I mainly care about ping time (and routing) for games. I don't care if one service gives me 75 mbps and another gives me 300 mbps, I'd pick the lower one if the price was on par, but the routing was way better. I remember OOL was good back in the day, but never paid attention to it lately. Preferably no caps.

[OOL] data usage per month - what do you use?
I'm just curious what everyone uses per month. We are a streaming only household, and between all the streaming services, roku's and apple TV in the house, plus PC's and Steam, we use anywhere from a low of 500GB, average 800GB, and I have had a few 1TB months. I have an Asus RT-AC66U router to check my traffic usage. What is everyone else's usage? Are you worried about Altice and caps?

New Arris TM1602A modem
Hi All,
I just swapped out my Arris TM822G for a TM1602A modem. My S/N ratio is a few points higher and I now have 9 downstream channels. Upstream remains at 3 channels.
I got the modem at the local Optimum service center.

Pixelation when using Tivo with Cablevision
I bought a Tivo in the beginning of December. I got a Roamio Pro with the six tuners. Ever since I have been having some pixelation and the sound and picture sometimes pause for a second. It happens on all different channels, from Cnn which is a lower channel and up in the premiums up in the 820 HD range. all the levels are in the spec as per Tivo at 89 signal strength and a 35 SNR. Rs Uncorrected and Rs Corrected are always 0.
The following has been changed:
The one splitter off the main
The cable from the splitter to the tivo
The Tivo itself
The cable Card
Has anyone else with a Tivo been having these issues on Cablevision?

Optimum Internet Basics Modem
Hey guys,
I just downgraded to internet basics and now there's a modem rental fee with my new plan. Trying to get out of paying rental fee by purchasing my own modem
I know Optimum lists what modems I can use here:
http://optimum.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3832/~/optimum-online-provided-modem
From the descriptions and footnotes I'm guessing I can only use one of the first 2 listed, right?
Also is there any cheaper modem out there I can buy? I don't have VOIP with optimum, just internet service
I looked around and used modems go for anywhere from $40-$60
Thanks

Can someone explain the legacy/grandfathered pricing to me?
I am paying this "grandfathered" rate that will expire at the end of this cycle.
They sent me a letter stating that the price will be higher. So I did what any diligent person would do - and called to schedule a disconnect. He mentioned that I was on the grand-fathered pricing, and that there's nothing like that any more.
Reading some of the threads here, people seem to be able to hang on to that?
Anyone know what the price goes to AFTER the end of promotion?

[OOL] Speculation: Ultra 150 & Ultra 300
Rumors have been floating around that higher tiers will be available in the next year. Apparently there has even been open discussion within sales offices regarding wether a 120 Mbps tier would be a selling point.
Anyone else hear anything about this?

How often do you reboot your modem?
Just curious, was looking at mine and it hasn't rebooted in 56 days. Wondering if its good practice to reboot it every week/month/?

LMN now SD Widescreen
Use to be window boxed now it's SD Widescreen.
Not sure if Cablevision is doing it or Lifetime.
Decades is also SD Windscreen but that's how it is OTA.
Not to mention CoziHD which is just unconverted
