[OOL] Using SB6121 for Optimum Online
I am moving to an Optimum area. I plan to subscribe to Optimum TV and internet.
I don't want to use that all-in-one box Altice provides (as my desktop computer and TV will be different rooms and I prefer to use my own router).
I have an SB6121 modem. I plan on getting the 100 (or maybe 200) Mbps package. I got upto 160 Mbps no problem with Cox using this modem.
Does it work with Optimum?

[OOL] Customers being charged $5 for Optimum 200?
Word on the street (ahem.. on facebook) is that people are now being charged $5 for optimum 200. Is this what optimum is doing after the "free" promo? I was told back in August that the 200 would drop off and I'd go back to Optimum 100 at the end of the promo. I think my promo ends in Feb. so I have to watch out for my March bill.
Isn't regular price for 200, base price plus $20? or is it $10? IDR
Thanks.

[iO] Buying Cable Boxes
Hi everyone. Sorry if this has been addressed prior. I didn't see anything in the FAQs, in the last 4 pages of posts, nor in searching "boxes".
I am trying to save my parents some money. They are stubborn and also refuse to adapt or learn new technology. They watch TV at all hours across many channels. "Cut the Cord" options and services do not interest them. Nor would it really save that much money since they "NEED" to have a handful of channels.
I was thinking of buying them some Motorola DCX3400 250GB Dual Tuner HD/DVR cable boxes I found online. They are listed as being able to work with Optimum services as required by the FCC. I do have a few questions however if anyone has experiences or warnings for me...
1. Is this a viable solution to help them save money? It appears they would save $10 a box straight away plus have DVR service as well.
2. Would I need to pick up a digital tuning device to work with these boxes for Optimum? I understand this is something I get from Optimum at a small rental fee per month, like I needed to when I used TiVo and wanted to access some channels.
3. Am I over looking any services or functionality that they would lose by doing this?
Thank you in advance for your help and advice!

If SB6183 is a supported modem can I get the latest firmware?
If the Arris SB6183 which is a supported Modem for Optimum Online, can I get the lastest firmware from Optimum if I called a Tech person? I just wish my modem had the firmware where I can turn off the UFO bright lights. It's ridiculous Arris put such bright lights on it. WTF were they thinking?

How will the Altice One fit in a complex existing network?
Right now I have two Leviton media panels in the utility room. One is telephony and supports two MagicJacks and an Ooma. The large panel has a Netgear FVS336Gv3, two ProSafe GS116NA switches, the distribution block for cable and some patch panels. The house and garages are extensively wired with CAT6. There are two Ruckus access points on site. On the actual wall of the utility room there are two wall plates with RG59 connectors. One is the actual cable feed. The other is for the Netgear router in the panel. An Arris TM802 sits on a shelf and is connected via those two plates. The thought was to keep Cablevision equipment segregated off the home network to make switching providers or modems simple. A couple of the Samsung cable boxes are installed in custom brackets beneath articulated wall mount tvs. Now the question is - will the Altice One have a place in a setup like this or am I better off keeping the existing equipment? Also going forward will "plain" modems and cable boxes will be available or will everything be rolled into a single box? My current wifi setup is optimized for coverage throughout the property and so much of the equipment is dependent on ethernet connections (security system/cameras, home automation, traditional PCs and servers, etc) that wifi is almost secondary.

rough power levels if direct from main line?
Just a best guess would be sufficient for now, but the main line currently goes to a 3 way splitter (internet on a -7db leg) then the internet line coming in goes to a 2 way splitter (on a -3.5 db leg) then goes into the modem. My power levels are at the max range right now. Curious to know, if i connected my internet line, direct to the main line coming in (don't need the other 2 lines coming off the splitter right now), what would the power levels be by bypassing the first 3 way splitter?
I can't play with the lines at the moment cause wife is working from home this week and needs the internet line...

[OOL] 6-month promo ending - what's next?
I was a 60/25 customer with grandfathered free modem. I was bumped to 100/35 in mid-June and it was made official on my July 21 statement (along with the $4.95 rental fee). There was no mention on my December 21 statement about what may happen, so I'm guessing I'll find out in 2 weeks what the plans are. Since 60 is being dropped in favor of 100, my realistic assumption is that they'll keep me at 100.
Has anyone finished their 6 month promo and seen a statement note about what speed you're getting going forward?

BYO Compatible modems for Optimum Internet
Hi, I'm signing up with Optimum Internet service in the Brooklyn area and would like to provide my own modem. I"m curious whether there is a full list of compatible modems as of mid 2017 (i.e. now-ish).
The sign-up page on Optimum's site lists the following models:
* Arris TM822-2 port 3.0
* TM804-4 port 3.0
* TM1602-2 port 3.0
* Motorola SBV6220 3.0
Are these the *only* modems that will work with Optimum? If so, which of them is the best? If not, what others might work?
I've found the following modems recommended elsewhere:
* ARRIS SB6141
* ZOOM 5345
* ARRIS Surfboard 6183
Are any of them compatible?
Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.

SB6141 suddenly only getting one channel
I have Optimum 100 in Brooklyn NY. I noticed that my internet speed is slow down in the past few days. When I ran a speed test, I only got 35 Mbps. I checked the Modem Configuration Manager, it was only showing one Downstream and Upstream channel. Rebooting hasn't helped.
Do you think it is a modem issue? TIA!

Moca network first time - guidance needed
So I'm thinking of setting up my cable to be Moca ready for my Tivo setup.
The line coming into my house is this black wire and it then splits into 2 white wires (See picture). I know I have to install a POE filter, which I think would go at the end of the black before the splitter?
1- Do I need to replace that 2 way splitter?
In the basement I found 2 - 4way splitter (5-1000mhz) Which I believe I need to replace to 2300mhz?
Lastly, my modem is TM1602 - Does that require any filters?
If anyone could shed knowledge and let me know if I'm going in the right direction. Thanks so much
