Hi, so I am really fed up with optimums modem. One the router security settings are all on optimums side and as of the last few weeks I cant even access the via the web site. Today I saw another optimum banner pop up in my browser which is ridiculous. I went into to change the DNS numbers and the web interface wasn't working again. I currently have 300/300 plan and I am getting no where near that number.
I want to buy my own modem so I can stop paying the $10 modem rental fee and because I want to have access to the security settings on my end. Since I am also using Optimum voice I need a voice modem. I made the mistake of getting a DOS3 complaint modem that has no telephone jack.
Two options are available for optimum modems. TM822(g) and TM1602 is this correct? Does anyone know what the differences between these are and/or if there are newer versions? Assuming I get a used or new one online, I should have access to to the router settings locally right? Not have to do it through the optimum online interface?
