Im no engineer but not a total idiot. A few times a week (that I experience, maybe it happens more?) my optimum speeds drop from the paid for 200mps to 20kps. it usually stays that way for a half hour or so, eventually popping back to 1mb, then 5, then 50, and eventually, the 200. I have optimum phone as well, and when this happens, dial tone can be slow in coming, 5-10 seconds, and sound quality is horrible. I have an eero gateway direct to the modem and a netgear switch off that. Same speeds whether its via wifi on my mobile, tested hardwire on PC via the switch, or via the eero test which supposedly tests from the gateway out. Eero says the gateway working fine. I was on the phone with the rep and had harrdwired pc right to modem and it took me a few tries before i could even get a speed test to work. I have switched out modem for a TM1602 thought that would help but it didnt. Altice thinks my netgear broke, eero broke, phone broke. They say I can call a service truck, but if they don't find anything they charge me $80. Since its not all the time, that seems like a sucker bet. What are the chances its my network not theirs? Anything I should try? Seems hopeless.
