I live in a condo, so there is a lot of WiFi interference. I'm currently having two issues.
1. I posted in the past that my iPhone connects to optimumwifi automatically rather than my local network. I do realize that you cannot connect to your own optimumwifi hot spot, so it is likely my neighbor's optimumwifi hotspot that it is connecting to. I posted about that in the past, and the solution I was told was to have it automatically connect to CableWifi, rather than optimumwifi. However, optimumwifi_passpoint now exists. Unfortunately, CableWifi does not connect to optimumwifi_passpoint networks. Unfortunately, it now by default connects to optimumwifi_passpoint rather than my local network. Is there any way to allow it to automatically connect to optimumwifi_passpoint when away from home, but to prioritize my local network? Furthermore, I can't even get it to stop connecting to optimuwifi_passpoint. What should I do?
2. My Optimum Smart Router is configured so that the 2.4 GHz nework and the 5 GHz network have the same SSID. Unfortunately, if I make any changes at all, including changing the channel, I will no longer be able to keep them on the same SSID, since Optimum no longer allows that option. Since I live in a condo, there is intereference on all 3 major channels (1, 6, and 11), so I get very poor performance on 2.4 GHz. However, my phone connects to the 2.4 GHz network unless I am in the same room as the router. If I configure the networks to use different SSIDs, I won't be able to go back if that doesn't work. I'm afraid that if I try to set it up with different SSIDs, that either the 5 GHz network won't work if I'm not in the same room as the router, or that the phone will prioritize the 2.4 GHz network with no way to allow it to prioritize the 5 GHz network. What do you recommend that I do?
Thank you.
