I currently have a TM822 provided by Optimum that I am going to replace to save the rental charge. In addition, my employer mentioned that if I find a replacement modem he would like one too and to purchase it on the company card for him. He and I both have 60/25 service and no plans to upgrade our speeds. Also, he has Optimum Voice and I do not but I "might" consider it at a future date.
For me the SB6183 would probably fit the bill for now, as it does not have voice support, but I would need either the TM822A or some other modem to cover his service. I have had zero issues with the TM822 I already have and probably will not need better than 8x4 support. I am not really interested in a TM1602 due to the Puma issues. I see TM822A's available for $34.99 which seems fine to me. With Altice looking to roll out fiber for the next generation, and already having the option to go FiOS as there is an ONT on my home now for POTS, I do not see the need to splurge on a higher priced cable modem.
