Hi Everyone I need some help. I came from FIOS after a 2-year contract and even though I like optimum things have not been smooth sailing. I decided to buy a TM1602A from eBay instead of paying monthly and when it was setup it worked fine. However, I will notice randomly that the internet is slow or a lot of buffering for videos and I will do a speed test. I often check the speeds and we get 60/30 when its good. However, when I will randomly test on different devices were lucky to get 10mbps. The issue has been getting more frequent. The only way I’ve been able to fix the issue is to reboot the modem by power cycling it and then speed will be ok (Full speed of 55-60mbps) for a little while again. It’s getting tiresome and I want to find a resolution to the issue. I came to the forum and saw people posting their signals so I went to capture mine and posted them below. I’m not sure how to read them and the only things I noticed were 2 of the down streams were down. I also saw the firmware build looks old. It was my understanding when buying this modem that OOL could update the modem from their end. How would I get this modem with the most up to date firmware? Or is that a non-issue? If the modem is the issue I can get another one but would rather not if this type is having issues. Also we have the triple play so we had to get this one for the optimum voice.
Can anyone have a look and give me some tips. We live in a 3 story, 2 tenant house so I know there is at least 1 split feeding the basement unit and upstairs. I didn’t have any issues with FiOS so this is a little annoying since the whole family switched over. I would like to get the internet functioning all the time. Coincidentally the FiOS retention team told me that speeds on optimum drop all the time and at night when the nodes are full but I ignored them. Hopefully this is a modem or connection issue.
