[iO] Simple TV downgrade to rebalance the money

My account cycle turns over Saturday 7/22, and year one of my moving promo is up, which meant my free MRDVR+ would also be coming to an end. I had Silver TV plus the Sports package, but I recognized that I haven't watched any of the premium movie channels in years. I did want to keep the DVR because I can rewind and replay live TV, great for a sports fan like me. So I did the math and figured dropping from Silver to Value would cover the addition of the $16.95 MRDVR+ fee and the $4.95 modem fee (I had been grandfathered) - and with the Sports pack, I'd still have all the sports channels I actually do watch. Did a customer service chat this afternoon and was number 11 in queue. Didn't wait long and a rep came on. Explained what my current situation was and what I wanted to do. He said no problem, and that I wouldn't lose the moving discount on the TV for the switch, which lasts for another 12 months. Made no changes to OOL or OV, just TV. I made sure I summarized exactly what I wanted and what he was going to adjust, he confirmed, and about an hour later, the account was updated at optimum.net. My bill will end up around $3-5 less than it is now, if we both calculated correctly. In other words, it will be roughly the same cost per month, but now I'm paying for services I actually use, and not premium services I haven't bothered with in a long time. I saved the chat to a file - something I have always done and highly recommend if you don't already - and done. Didn't take very long at all, and the rep showed that he understood what I was trying to accomplish. Another good experience with their staff.
