Recently just upgraded to the 200Mbps and Optimum sent me the TM1602. After seeing the issues with the chipset, I'm not sure if I'd like to continue to use it for Internet. I do play games occasionally so latency is something important to me. I was able to get fairly close to my 200Mbps on my old TM822, but I have 12 channels in my area and ideally would like access to those extra channels to hopefully hit peak speeds more often.
I've been searching online, and it has been difficult to find a 16 channel modem that is not using the Puma 6 chipset and has a phone line. For example, the SB6183 looks great and is priced well, but does not have a phone line that I could use for Optimum Voice.
I'd like to know if it is possible or anyone here has used a modem like the SB6183 for internet and was able to use the Optimum provided modem for voice. I am not paying a modem fee currently. I guess in the worst case I would go back to the TM822 until this gets resolved.
