[OOL] Service line replacement?

$

Am I going to have luck getting Optimum to replace the line from the pole to the house because it's ancient, beat up, and ugly? The previous owner covered it in flaky white paint, which stands out against the new siding. I don't actually have any signal issues a the moment - more trying to improve the look and prevent any future issues from the ancient cable.

[OOL] Resetting Modem Previously on Another Cable System with IPv6

On the BYOM thread it is stated "some modems cannot be reset if they were provisioned on another cable system that uses IPv6", presumably making such modems unusable on the next different cable system. Is there any explanation as to why a hard-reset would not restore such modems to their factory-fresh default configuration?

FWIW, my SB6183 just had a reset event with the diagnostics message "Resetting the cable modem due to docsDevResetNow" -- I looked at its firmware version on the Product Info tab and saw that ít's just been updated to D30CM-OSPREY-2.4.0.2-GA-00-NOSH (it was previously on SB6183-9.2.0.0-GA-03-29-NOSH since I first bought the modem 3 years ago).

Altice Fiber discussions

https://www.optimum.com/fiber This forum is dedicated to active discussions on the Altice Fiber rollout, where Altice (French telecom company who bought Optimum) is building out a fiber to the home network to replace the CoAX. The FTTH network will be similar to FiOS, in similar markets BUT it will be IPTV vs RF with Verizon AND it is ONLY where Optimum already exists. You may discuss to your heart's content. HOWEVER, if you have information on where Altice is doing contruction, or you can order the Fiber service, please let us know on this other forum: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32461936-Altice-Fiber-Details-Pricing-and-Availability I am not an insider and can only source information available from the press or through fellow community members. If you want to know about your town, we recommend checking if there are fiber taps on the poles or ask one of the Optimum techs in the area what is the timeline on when they will start construction on your town. Customer service reps (store and phone) won't really know. Your best bet are the techs on the field. And then let us know in the page I linked here so the rest of us can be in the know :)

According to Bloomberg, Altice USA is acquiring Cogeco for approximately $7.8 billion in an all cash deal. They'll sell the Canadian assets, but retain US component which is Atlantic Broadband. Atlantic Broadband is currently the 9th largest cable operator in the U.S, providing residential and business customers with broadband, video and telephony services in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. It's an additional 1.1 million homes and businesses.

new fiber install, cannot manage router settings

Hi, I have a fresh Optimum fiber installation. I can connect to the internet but when I attempt to access my router settings at optimum.net I see this: "Sorry, we're having trouble accessing your router settings" Has anyone experienced this before and know how to fix it? The first rep I spoke to said it was an outage on their end, but some googling shows that some people have had this problem for months with no resolution.

Any success with self-activation of SB8200?

I'm currently set up with the Gateway 4 UBC1319, which came with my 500 Mbps service. I'm only getting 150 Mbps on the wifi, which is a bit disappointing. I've connected an Arris TM 822 and get 250 Mbps+. So I plan to switch up to the SB8200. Has anyone had success self- activating / self-provisioning on install.optimum.com/JointInstall? I don't have voice, just data. I really want to avoid the dreaded calls with Altice tech if I can, or if not at least mentally ready myself for it.

[help] SGD Process

Haven’t had cable working in a month Every reboot keeps getting stuck on a screen that says SGD Process started ... then it just times out. Five technicians have come in, swapped out boxes, checked the cable lines, etc ... then they say something vague about it’s not the box, it’s an engineering issue, someone will call later today when it’s fixed ... they never call, it’s never fixed. We have Internet, the app works, just no channels. Thoughts?

Can you move and transfer service and keep any promotions?

Can you move and transfer service and keep any promotions? I got an email about $30 for TV(yes I know, fees and box rental, but still cheaper that youtube tv now), but am about to move, will I be able to move and keep that kind of promotion, or does it count as a new customer when you move? Also, if you are internet only, can you add tv without having a tech come out, don't really like them interfering with my equipment when I can do it myself, especially during covid times.

[OOL] Not seeing an increase from 400mbps plan

So I've been on the 400/40Mbps plan with my own Netgear CM600 for a few years, everything fine there other than paying about $111/month for this. I get an email that I can get 1Gbps for $75/month for life and I jump on it. I ordered a CM1100 and just received it yesterday, went through the self install captive portal, and we're up and running. The only problem is I'm getting about 430/50Mbps now. I've tried various times of the day and doesn't seem to be an improvement of much. One time I got it to peak around 500Mbps on the downstream. Also, I did try plugging directly into the modem and got the same results. I've got 28 downstream channels and one downstream OFDM channel, is this correct? The OFDM channel has an insane level of correctable codewords, would that affect my performance?

https://www.optimum.com/fiber Note this thread is ONLY for keeping track of Altice fiber availability. You can only post of if you have Altice fiber available in your area or not or any other helpful findings. All other content will be deleted. For any other discussion on Altice Fiber findings, please bring it to the Altice fiber discussions thread. https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32285352-Altice-Fiber-discussions This is the community built Master List of Altice Fiber Information & Availability. This first post will continuously get updated with the latest information as it becomes available. I am not an insider and can only source information available from the press or through fellow community members. And then let us know so I can update this post for the others :) With any info you find, please reply to this thread with any information or fiber availability. Please include if you see the fiber taps on your street poles or if your neighborhood is available to sign up for fiber. Please include the City + State. Altice Fiber Promo pricing: 300M - $40 500M - $65 1G - $75 Gateway rental $10 REQUIRED There's only one gateway model (modem+router). Required because it has the built-in ONT (Optical Network Terminal). And NO you can't use a FiOS ONT, different networks. No advanced management features (port forward, etc), no bridge mode (Double NAT) Calling Optimum, they can manually do port forwarding on their end. TV and Phone look to be deployed over Fiber network wide but we do not have confirmation on the TV boxes used. When TV gets rolled out, sources say it may ONLY be IPTV (Altice One box only), no RFoG, rendering CableCARDs, TiVos, and Scientific Atlanta/Samsung boxes obsolete. But they're encountering alot of issues so save yourself the trouble and sign up for OTT TV instead from someone else. Apparently you can substitute an Apple TV for an Altice Mini in the home but you would STILL need the master box connected and powered on. WHOEVER has TV service over fiber, PLEASE let us know with pics of the box, we're all sort of left out still. Got gigabit internet installed on the 8/30. Its been over a week and I still can't login with my optimum id to the website and to my router. Called, chatted numerous times and no result so far. My issue keeps getting escalated to the void. All I'm trying to do is change my internal network from 192.168.1.x and adjust my wifi settings. This is horrible. Any help on how to best proceed?

[TV] IO Silver package retired after September 1, 2020

Hi all. I just been told by some rep on Optimum.net chat that IO Silver package has retired after September 1, 2020 and all customers who were on this package were transferred on Standard package and lost a lot of channels. For example I'm the one. I lost Tennis channel 226. I was on IO Silver and also I have sport package. Now even though I have sport package with channel 226 I can't see this channel anymore. I need to upgrade to Premium channel. Has anyone heard something about it?

Special discount?

I'm helping an elderly relative. Her typical bill is: TV - free, as she's part of Multiple Dwelling Unit bulk contract Internet - Optimum online, modem, network = 103.49 Phone - 34.90 after a 15.00 multiproduct discount Special discount - 38.50 She wants to cancel internet, as she doesn't use it, but she wants to figure out what Special discount might be and if she'll lose it. The total bill is about the same every month for at least the past year, although internet increased a while back and special discount increased to offset it. The phone includes two lines, but she wants to cancel one. Will she lose the multiproduct discount for the phone if she cancels internet or the second line? Any other thoughts on lowering the bill? I could ask Optimum, but after multiple phone and chat conversations with support and billing due to a recent outage I'd rather limit contact with them and wouldn't believe anything without multiple confirmations.

Optimum Silver Package Being Eliminated

While Optimum Silver disappeared several months ago, those who already had it were allowed to keep it (grandfathered). Well, that's about to change. I saw the following little nugget on the back of my current bill... Starting 9/1 through 10/10, the Optimum Silver TV package ($119.99) will be discontinued and replaced by Optimum Select ($94.99), which doesn't include premium channels such as HBO, Showtime, and Starz. To reduce the impact of this change, you'll keep HBO, Showtime, and Starz at a la carte pricing (HBO $14.99/mo., Showtime $5.00/mo. for 12 mo., Starz $5.00/mo. for 12 mo.) so that what you pay for Optimum Select and these premiums will be similar to what you have been paying for Optimum Silver. In month 13, Showtime and Starz will increase to full rate. Optimum Select and HBO rates are subject to change at any time. Premiums may be cancelled at any time. For more information on channel lineup changes, visit optimum.net. Once the "promo" expires in a year, is there really any compelling reason to keep video service from Optimum? I honestly think that this is by design. Do they actually want to remain a video provider?
