[OOL] Frequent Drops - Please Help me
Hello,
On the cable line currently has a -10dB filter. This is a direct line from the street (One connection to house) and straight coax to back of modem. Also I already clicked on Reset Counters.
I'm hoping to get some advice here as I've been getting very frustrated the past week. I've been suffering from my internet going out to the point where I need to reset the cable modem multiple times before it starts working again.
I'd like to understand how I could try and determine the cause of my issue. I've been looking at the connection and logs on my cable modem Arris TM1602.
I do reset my cable modem and after 2-3 restarts, the internet starts working again before a bit later the problem comes back within an hour or so.
Under the downstream bonded channels, what are normal frequencies? power levels? SNR levels? Correctables and Uncorrectables? Do all these columns look fine or within normal range?
If I can just understand the information my cable modem is providing, I'm hoping I can determine my next steps (looking into warranty on the modem, contacting OOL support, looking at another ISP provider, etc.).

[OOL] fixed wifi problem
Wifi wasn't working today.
Windows showed "no internet, secured".
All I did was unplug the router and modem for a few minutes, and then wifi started working again.
Was an automatic firmware update the reason why my devices weren't registered?

Hey guys. For those that took advantage of price for life; anyone know if you were able to downgrade Tv packages and retain the price for life thing? They changed the premier package and removed Redzone and NHL so I really don't need premier anymore...Also, is the DVR really 17 dollars a month after the first year?

Sneaky reduction of existing "special discount" (no pkg/promo)
So I just got my email notification of this month's paperless bill and immediately notice that it's $5.25 higher than I had been paying since the February nonsense. Compared my last month's bill to the new one, and all the service costs are exactly the same, but for some reason they took $5 off the "special discount" that I'd been receiving (reduced it from $66.50 to $61.50 with no explanation.) I guess when they play with the "discount" they don't notify the customer, the way they do when they change a service fee.
I don't have a package (have Economy TV plus Optimum 20 for internet, having downgraded from 100 when the nonsense happened) so the only charges are for the TV, cable box, broadcast fee, internet 20, and network enhancement fee. Bought my own modem back in March, so nothing has changed except them arbitrarily deciding that they like me $5 less per month than before, I guess.
Considering that they never explain what their "special discount(s)" are based on, they can change all or part of them on a whim. Annoying. Still, it's not as if I can change anything about my services, being at rock bottom already with the Economy + 20 and no modem. (switching to Altice One or another provider isn't an option, for various reasons)
I wonder how long it will take them to nibble away at everyone's "special discount" until we're lucky there's any left at all?

Ongoing Intermittent Bandwidth issues
I have been dealing with very frustrating intermittent internet issues for over 2 weeks now. Clearly since everyone in my neighborhood is home, the internet reliability has been MUCH worse than previously. My upload speed would dip at random points in the day, and it has made me incapable of doing my job from home. This issue has happened before the pandemic, but just not as often as now.
As of last week, I did have a service appointment with an Optimum tech. This tech checked out all my equipment and lines inside my house and found no issues. He later evaluated my issue as an intermittent issue/plant issue. Hours later, a service repair was done outside on my tap pole to hopefully resolve this issue... no luck.
Days later, I managed to get a hold of an Optimum representative on Thursday (April 2nd) after I had to file a FCC complaint (since I cannot get a hold of anyone nor get this issue fully resolved), and they mentioned to me that the issue is on their end; their issue is a node issue. I did not get an ETA on when this will be resolved days later nor an update of some sort, and I feel helpless once again.
Clearly the networks are being congested, and whichever specific node associates to my area is having issues since everyone is home. Is there no physical way of fixing this?! I'm not the most internet savvy when it comes to these things, but will all my frustration, this is what I have researched.
I'm just wanting to get my internet sorted for good. I know it can be resolved, and it is extremely frustrating as a customer to have to pay for spotty service.
Don't know how much can be done through this forum, but any discussion would be appreciated.
(I also attached modem logs during an instance of my upload speed completely dipping to under 1 mbps)

There's only one gateway model (modem+router). Required because it has the built-in ONT (Optical Network Terminal). And NO you can't use a FiOS ONT, different networks.
No advanced management features (port forward, etc), no bridge mode (Double NAT)
Calling Optimum, they can manually do port forwarding on their end.
Only Internet is available for FTTH. TV and Phone integration are still in development by sources. If you want either TV, Phone, or both, you need to remain on CoAX.
When TV gets rolled out, sources say it may ONLY be IPTV, no RFoG, rendering CableCARDs, TiVos, and Scientific Atlanta/Samsung boxes obsolete. But they're encountering alot of issues so save yourself the trouble and sign up for OTT TV instead from someone else.

TV is apparently in PUBLIC BETA in just a few cities. BIG channel changes for those without a box!.
I can't even find WCBS channel 2-1 anymore!. WCBS was supposed to change frequencies on august 1 st. but apparently Altice moved that up!.. many other channels have moved too, and I don't like having to search through the garbage to delete the junk channels, and even then, I have to remember where the good channels are now!.. Hauppauge system.

New problem with webmail
An intermittent problem started happening today with Optimum webmail (https://mymail.optimum.net)
While already logged in successfully, and then attempting to browse into an individual email item, it's sometimes failing with this:
Error: Failed to load message content
A temporary failure occurred during login. Please try again later.
(Retry)
Pressing the retry button may get you the email contents if you're lucky.
Overall this is quite frustrating, and I imagine it's an indication of a server-side problem.

[OOL] Altice downgraded me to 400M from 1G, removed all promos. Help!
Hi, here is my story - looking for advice here.
Back in May, Altice offered me 1G plan at 79$ with $100 amazon gift-card after 3 month.
I accepted the offer - and also bought my own DOCSIS 3.1 modem that works fine and returned their modem.
June was non-eventful.
On July 11, Altice downgraded me to 400 without warning - also removing all promos (both the rate and $100 amazon GC).
I called, waited 95 minutes - and was told that they ran some report and there was some rate codes issues - so they downgraded me and removed all promos (now I am at a crazy high rate of $135). But she said she cannot help me and transferred to sales - another 90 minutes wait, and sales department says they have no idea why they are being involved so cannot help. Another transfer back to CS - another 90 minutes wait, and then line goes dead.
Have no idea how I can get back to my previous state - and why they did those unauthorized plan changes.
Any advice?

AlticeOne 1 Gig WIFI issues UBC1322
Hi,
I had 1 gig installed yesterday 7/21/2020 and now I'm having wifi issues. The modem needs to be rebooted everyday. The devices are connected to the wifi, however, shows no internet connection when going to websites. At the same time, the phone (Optimum Voice) is also not working until the modem is rebooted.
I am using an Ubee UBC1322 modem that was provided by optimum. Anyone with internet issues? Anyone with any suggestions?

1 Gig Tech pre-Visit Advice
Got “upgraded” from 100 tier to 1 gig. So that means they replaced my Arris+D-Link (both Optimum supplied) with the UBEE. We do not have TV service. Problems since then. According to Optimum, there’s a “signal problem,” but reading the posts around the web are not encouraging. Optimum tech is making home visit today.
Basically I’m trying to sort out what I’d like to get accomplished during this visit. As noted, I previously had the Arris and D-Link. I have cat 5 runs to rooms in my house so I used the ports on the D-Link and hardwired Apple Airport Extremes in various locations to give better wireless coverage. These were set in Bridge mode.I gave them all the same wireless network name and passwords as the D-Link. This all worked fine. Maybe not great but fine. Clearly, a mesh system would be better but I don’t have one at the moment.
The UBEE keeps dropping out so I don’t know whether it will play nicely with the setup as I had it. But given that I have been told by tech support that we cannot access the UBEE’s settings, I am not optimistic about being able to tweak things as needed. So I’m wondering what to do. I see at least the following options:
1) Have tech fix UBEE and hope that the Apple Airport Extremes play nicely with it. (I am VERY suspicious of the UBEE firmware.)
2) Have tech fix UBEE and enable bridge mode so that I can get my own cable modem and go from there. Can I have bridge mode enabled but not make use of it yet? In other words, can I use Optimum’s settings, etc. until I get the cable modem and mesh equipment?
3) Ask for my old equipment back and downgrade to the highest non-gig service. We’re coax so that’s actually not giving up much is it?
4) secret options. This is where I need your help and where this community has always come through. I’d love some advice about how best to proceed. A big issue is that this is my in-laws’ place so I’d like to whatever solution we implement to be either relatively easy to maintain or at least something that they can call Optimum for help.
TL;DR - tech coming to fix bad UBEE upgrade. What would you ask him/her to do to get you set up with maximum flexibility?

Optimum 600 and 1gig official discussion
I see in a few threads people talking about the feb 2020 pricing updates and the notice that optimum 600 and 1 gig will be available than. For what it’s worth I called and tried to change our optimum 400 service to gig but the rep said he couldn’t add it yet.
