Class Action Lawsuit - Fox Channels

Did anyone notice the class action lawsuit notice enclosed with this month's bill? I just look at my bill online and noticed it. It's a separate PDF file. The plaintiffs claim that if you subscribed to cable TV through Cablevision between 10/16/10 and 10/30/10 that we should be entitled to some credit for the programming loss (and lack of alternate programming). They hang their hat on the notion that it was service interruption as defined in the T&C (subject to a credit) rather than a lineup change (not subject to a credit). Cablevision, in its response, points to the relevant T&C section saying that lineups are subject to change in accordance with applicable law. The only thing that's happened so far is that the court has ruled that the case may proceed as a class action. There's nothing to do now, unless you want to opt-out of any potential settlement. This is very interesting and I look forward to seeing how it turns out. At best, maybe a few cents credit to each customer and a big fat check to the lawyers. And I'm sure Cablevision's lawyers will (or already have) tighten up the language in the T&C.
