ONLY post here for town Fiber Availability + Feature Updates. ALL other discussion on Altice Fiber (Conversations, RANTS), please put in this other thread. https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32285352-Altice-Fiber-discussions
***BRIDGE MODE IS FINALLY AVAILABLE :)***
This is the community-built Master List of Altice Fiber Information & Availability. YUP FTTH just like Verizon FiOS. After Altice (Netherlands Telco corp) acquired Cablevision USA, Altice committed to building out Fiber to the Home & phasing out their old HFCoax network. A common trend they're doing with other Cable Co's they acquired in Portugal & France :)
So I'll update this 1st post with town buildout progress + feature updates as it becomes available OR if you guys would be so kind to post updates, this helps us all out :) I am NOT an insider, I'm just sourcing all this info from you guys, the front line. Desperate for updates? Check with any Optimum crew as you see them on the street OR look to see if you find any fiber taps on your poles. Customer service reps (store and phone) won't really know.
Altice Fiber Promo pricing: (symmetrical upload/downlaod)
Gateway rental $10 REQUIRED
Inside FiOS Land:
300M - $35
500M - $45
1G - $55
Outside FiOS Land:
100M - $35
300M - $40
500M - $60
1G - $80
There are NOW 2 gateway models (modem+router). Required because it has the built-in ONT (Optical Network Terminal). And NO you can't use a FiOS ONT, different networks.
FGW-GR240BG original Wi-Fi AC (& no Bridge Mode)
GR140DG newer Wi-Fi 6 + Bridge Mode
There is NO Web GUI to make changes on your end. All must be done remotely by calling Optimum to manually do updates like Port Forwarding.
FINALLY they JUST added the ability to do Bridge Mode, but you'll need gateway GR140DG. Call it in & it'll be port 1 of the gateway that you will plug YOUR router's WAN port into (no more Double NAT).
They do offer wifi extenders for an extra monthly fee (ethernet only, no MoCa). Although if you have TV service, you can use the Altice One Mini boxes as wifi extenders (I believe this is also by calling tech support to manually update).
Phone Service is all VoIP (like their HFC Cable modems). Phone jacks are on the provided Fiber Gateway.
TV Service is all IPTV, no RFoG (which FiOS uses), rendering CableCARDs, TiVos, and Scientific Atlanta/Samsung boxes obsolete. The Altice One main box (large w/ the hard drive) is not even deployed in IPTV. All the TV boxes on IPTV utilize JUST the Altice Mini boxes.
Apparently, you can substitute an Apple TV for an Altice Mini in the home to save money.
As Far As WE Know, fiber service is really just available to NEW Customers ONLY so existing customers will have a HARD time getting fiber upgrade based on what we've seen so far. As of now, you'll need to disconnect service and sign up again to get fiber if you're desperate enough.
To sign up now OR check if its available, head to: https://www.optimum.com/fiber
Plug in your address. You'll know fiber is available to you when it says "Fiber Internet" on the heading of the choices. (see 2nd screenshot above)
Legend:
Deploying: there are fiber taps on the poles
