So I have the Altice Fiber Gateway (FTTH), which has been working fine for the month that I have had it. Within the last 2 days it has been boot looping left and right. I cant really remote into and troubleshoot the device since it's locked down. After some detective work, what I managed to find out is that one of of my devices were causing it to go on a loop whenever it tried to connect online.
To get really specific, the device is a Nintendo Switch. Whenever I tried to connect online with the new Pokemon game that's out it would take out the gateway and force it to reboot without fail (wtf?). If the device remains connected or trying to connect online it will keep the gateway in a boot loop(Power light turns green > wait ~2 mins> WiFi 5G light turns green> Power light turns RED>wait ~2mins>repeat)
If I connect through my AP's it takes the gateway out, if i connect it through the gateway AP, it takes the gateway out. Not sure if something is up with their baked in UPNP solution or if it's another bug entirely.
Before I claim this as a possible device failure with Altice ($80 service charge if the tech decides the problem is not Optimum related, aka issue Is related to exterior wiring or equipment) I was wondering if anyone out there that has the Altice Fiber Gateway can test this out on their end if all the criteria is met, and see if it causes their gateway to reboot.
The steps that I found that make it reboot is:
Connect the Nintendo Switch to your network
Launch the Pokemon game (Sword or Shield I guess)
Try to to connect online through the game.
By now it should probably make the router reboot.
Let me know if it takes out your gateway too or if i'm just alone in this issue.
Edit:
Here's a video of it, hopefully you guys can see it here instead of the post I just did (new account post delay =/)
