Hi everyone. Sorry if this has been addressed prior. I didn't see anything in the FAQs, in the last 4 pages of posts, nor in searching "boxes".
I am trying to save my parents some money. They are stubborn and also refuse to adapt or learn new technology. They watch TV at all hours across many channels. "Cut the Cord" options and services do not interest them. Nor would it really save that much money since they "NEED" to have a handful of channels.
I was thinking of buying them some Motorola DCX3400 250GB Dual Tuner HD/DVR cable boxes I found online. They are listed as being able to work with Optimum services as required by the FCC. I do have a few questions however if anyone has experiences or warnings for me...
1. Is this a viable solution to help them save money? It appears they would save $10 a box straight away plus have DVR service as well.
2. Would I need to pick up a digital tuning device to work with these boxes for Optimum? I understand this is something I get from Optimum at a small rental fee per month, like I needed to when I used TiVo and wanted to access some channels.
3. Am I over looking any services or functionality that they would lose by doing this?
Thank you in advance for your help and advice!
