Now that I'm being charged a rental fee, I want to buy my own modem and I've selected the 6183. This modem has no Optimum Voice though, but I read here on this forum that we can call them to provision my current TM822 for voice only and not be charged a rental fee.
Well after calling today the Cablevision rep told me "regardless of what you use the modem for, you will be charged the fee for it". I asked him if he is sure, he said he would double check and get back to me... well he got back to me and confirmed that I would indeed still get charged a modem fee if I use their modem even if it is just for voice.
So how exactly are people here getting Optimum to provision the old modem for voice only and not get charged for it? According to the csr and even his supervisor this is not possible...If anyone knows a way around this it would be much appreciated.. Thanks
